This time, the BMW Motorrad equipment test was conducted by another member of the BMW Europe Moto team: Alexandre, from whom we gathered the experience and feedback. A seasoned motorcyclist in his thirties, Alexandre joined the Europe Moto team a few years ago, passionate about motorcycles and especially BMW. We gave him a mission: to test the KnitLite sneakers over a long-term test and share his complete experience with us.

The test began in the summer of 2022 and lasted for 2 years, allowing plenty of time to wear the BMW motorcycle shoes regularly, in different weather conditions, and test their durability. Alexandre tested the shoes on his own motorcycles: an F850GS and an F850GS Adventure.

In terms of journeys, Alex was able to test the sneakers on different trip durations, ranging from commuting to extended rides lasting up to half a day. He tested the sneakers both in our beautiful southern France region, notably at the Cirque de Navacelles, and during his trips on the desert roads of Erfoud, Morocco.

Although he had the shoes for two years, Alexandre mostly wore them in the summer and mid-season, always in dry weather.

Opinion on the BMW KnitLite Sneakers

Discover now Alexandre's opinion on the BMW KnitLite motorcycle shoes, which was immediately very positive.

From the very first moment, Alex immediately appreciated the KnitLite sneakers, especially for their sole which is both rigid and strong but also flexible and comfortable when walking. As soon as he took them out of the box, Alexandre was instantly attracted to them, finding their style very cool, discreet, and youthful.

When putting them on, whether for the first or the hundredth time, Alexandre still appreciates the closure zips, which make the process much easier and also save time by not having to tie and untie the laces. When sharing his feedback, Alexandre emphasized the great comfort of the shoes, which he felt both while riding the bike and when walking throughout his day, “it feels like I’m wearing regular shoes and not motorcycle boots,” he told us.

In terms of protection, Alex pointed out a lot of positive aspects to these shoes, especially with a durable sole and, thanks to Vibram, very grippy, even at gas stations. With the presence of ankle protection as well as toe protection on both sides, Alexandre told us he felt safe in these motorcycle shoes. He also pointed out that the gear shift protection was effective. Moreover, shifting gears is easy compared to bulkier boots, as the compact shoe leaves no doubt about foot positioning on the gear shifter.

The point that Alexandre appreciated the most about these KnitLite motorcycle shoes is their comfort, which remains the same after long rides but also after two years of use. "I still feel comfortable in them, even after long rides," Alex told us. The soles, flexible enough to follow foot movement while walking and shifting gears, are ideal for spending the entire day in them.

During his outings in the desert, Alexandre noted that he didn't feel hot or sweaty in his shoes, thanks to their excellent ventilation.

After two years of use, Alex also mentioned that they are very easy to maintain and clean.

Finally, if there is one negative point Alex could take from these BMW motorcycle shoes, it's that they are not waterproof, but as summer shoes, he finds it rather acceptable.
